Week 7 Editing

I have finished my editing and here are some final thoughts that I have: 
  • I wished I had spent time looking for other candidates that could have filmed my film with me 
  • Filming by myself was hard and easy at the same time 
  • filming by myself was easy because I didn't have to rely on someone else
  • I wished I could have incorporated more clips that could/would have progressed  y storyline: at the end of the day it came down to how much timing and space was available in my 2min film

Film Opening Research # 1- Soul

How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? For the opening sequence of the movie Soul , the viewer can see the see the movie starts with a typical Disney scene opener. But this is not quite Disney typical as the typical Disney magic sound is transformed into a terrible and scratchy band sound. The movie opening sequence have two big titles which includes Disney and Pixar. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  The typical Disney opening castle scene is prioritized within the beginning sequence as well as the typical Pixar lamp jumping scene where the lamp jumps on the I and replaces the I  What connotations do the images carry? MISE-EN-SCENE

   I decided to comment on the mise-en-scene of the movie " First They Killed My Father." I picked this movie because it is primarily based around the Cambodian genocide. Loung Ung is a 5-year-old when the Khmer Rogue overpowers the Cambodians in 1975. Nearly 2 million Cambodians died during this genocide. The movie does a good job portraying the emotions and hardships the Cambodians faced during the genocide through the four general mise-en-scene areas: setting, lighting, costume, and staging.  At the beginning of the movie, the viewer sees a  high-key lighting  scene .  5-year old Loung Ung is seen walking throughout her parent's house. She passes by her tv and shows her grand balcony to her house. The high-key lighting gives a radiant and happy vibe to the first scene.  The next scene shows Loung Ung neighborhood being evacuated due to Americans booming.
