Movie Shot
Review of a few camera angles from the movie
The Hunger Games" (2012)
From the producer Gary Ross
I choose the movie, "The Hunger Games" because I am a big fan of the book series. I really liked the dystopian world affect the author collins added to the book, which we don't really see in many books/movies today. The book/movie is a good example of a few relatable things we can use today to spark needed discussions.
Instead of the typical establishing shot, the movie starts oof with a close shot. Within the close shot the two characters are unknown. this creates a sense of confusing and suspense for the reader. creating a sense of curiosity leaving the reader wanting more. Different camera angles incorporate different emotions, in this case adding an untypical camera shot creates confusion and logging for more information.
Although this shot is a mixture of many different shots, I want to examine the tight-shot of Katniss attempting to shoot the deer. through this scene we get a sense of the main character Katniss. This gives the reader a sense of what the character is experience by getting them close and personal.
This is an example of a Long shot. This long shot shows the main character Katniss walking. This sets a very neutral mood with no suspense. Instated it is used to set the scene's setting and environment Katniss is walking around.
This scene took place after Peter and Katniss got chosen for the hunger game. This is an example of a Cutaway. Through this scene we can see the audience reaction to the peter and Katniss. This scene helps the viewer get familiar with the characters.
This is an example of a booming shot showing different angles from the characters getting attacked by wasp. By the film makers switching the screen angles we get a sense of how much pain the characters are going through. We also get to see who survives.
This last few scene of the movie is an example of a pan shot. this shot shows multiple perspective which gives the viewer a sense of understand for each individual character. The scene also creates suspense because the reader doesn't know if the main characters are going to survive.
This last few scene of the movie is an example of a pan shot. this shot shows multiple perspective which gives the viewer a sense of understand for each individual character. The scene also creates suspense because the reader doesn't know if the main characters are going to survive. Without this point of view the viewer would simply experience Katniss tripping and falling and not understand why.
